Better Families has a student creed that provides the core principles for Miami Tae Kwon Do program. The first line is “to build true confidence through knowledge in the mindâ€. This line regards to learning Tae Kwon Do along with everything else in life. Knowledge itself creates confidence in martial arts especially in order to perform without thinking. The best martial artist is one who can perform with the techniques and concept already second nature to them. The more knowledge a student has, the additional confidence they possess.
“Honesty in the heart and strength in the body†is the second line to the student creed. The line goes with plenty of meaning, as being honest with yourself goes along with being a quality person. You have to honest with yourself first before you can be honest with anyone else in life. Being dishonest only works in the short term with martial arts and everything in life. Strength in the body is important so that you can be healthy and capable of protecting yourself. A Miami Tae Kwon Do student must have plenty of body strength in order to perform at a high level. Better Families students perform at a high level weather they are white or black belts. More importantly having the strength to protect your loved ones and any of those who would need your help.
“ To keep friendship with one another and to build a strong and happy community†is largely about showing respect to others. Simply showing respect to others goes a long way with building friendships and thus bettering the community. Better Families teaches the value of friendship and good relationships that will benefit yourself and others. The last line is “ never fight to achieve selfish ends, but to develop might for right†is basically saying to only use martial arts for self-defense. Miami Tae Kwon Do is not taught for students to use their martial arts on others unless deemed necessary in self-defense circumstances. Understanding the Better Families student creed will help you be a good martial artist as well as successful person.
